14-7-4. Checking the Encoder Connection
The counter operation of the stepping motor that checks the position using the encoder is checked.
The encoder connection is checked after the DC power supply and stepping motor driver have
been adjusted. If the check is made when the encoder signal is not input to the counter correctly,
the position of the stepping motor may not be controlled correctly.
(1) Turn on the circuit breaker of the machine, and then turn on the power switch.
(2) Start up the adjustment software.
(3) Manually move each motor axis to check the count value and polarity.
Check that almost the same values as those stated in Table 14-7-4-1 are counted.

Table 14-7-4-1 Polarity and count value of each axis
If the counter value does not change or the value may vary greatly from those stated in Table
14-7-4-1, the connector may be connected incorrectly. Check the connector connections to locate
the cause.
(4) After the check has been made, exit the adjustment software. When the machine is ready to
turn off the power, turn off the power switch and circuit breaker.
Checking of the encoder connection is then completed.
