DIP Switch Test
This Test is used to check that each of the eight (8)
Switches located on the VEGA-RC DIP Switch
Block is operating correctly. This is accomplished
by manually changing each Switch settings on the
DIP Switch Block, and then verifying that a correct
output is presented on the Seven (7) Segment Dis-
play. During the Test the DIP Switches function as
an 8-bit Binary Counter which outputs a decimal
value from 0 to 255 when the equivalent value (in
binary) is set on the DIP Switches.
DIP Switch #1 represents the Least Significant Bit
(LSB) of the counter, while DIP Switch #8 repre-
sents the Most Significant Bit (MSB). The Seven
(7) Segment Display indicates the value in a 2-digit
hexadecimal format range from “00” to “FF”.
The left-side character of the Seven (7) Segment
Display represents a hexadecimal value from “0”
to “F” as set on DIP Switches #5, #6, #7 and #8;
and the right-side character represents a hexadeci-
mal value from “0” to “F” as set on DIP Switches
#1, #2, #3 and #4 (See Figure 6-6 and Table 6-1).
