CONTROLS AND INSTRUMENTS

CAUTION

• Keep the brake pedal firmly depressed when the engine has been automatically

stopped using the idling stop system. The engine may restart and the vehicle

move forward if pressure on the brake pedal is decreased.

Start Assist Function

This function holds the brakes momentarily to prevent the vehicle from rolling

backwards even if the brake pedal is released when moving the vehicle forward from a

stationary position in which the engine had been automatically stopped.

NOTE

• The start assist function operates not only on hills, but also on flat surfaces.

NOTE

• If you use the automatic engine start operation while the engine is still engaged

immediately after the engine is automatically stopped by the idling stop system,

the starter may not operate immediately, this is to protect the engine's starter

system components.

CAUTION

• The start assist function will not operate when engine restarting is canceled

during automatic engine stopping.

• When the rear differential lock is operating (models with rear differential lock),

start assist function will not operate.
