To update the system firmware and the diagnostics (we always recommend that
you do both at once), follow these steps:
1. Select Flash Update from the EFI Firmware Boot Manager menu (Figure 4-2
on page 94). The following screen will be displayed.

2. Press 1 then Enter to update the EFI/SAL.
3. You are asked if you wish to change the serial number, the machine type, and
the asset tag. Typically, you would answer No.
