Terminals 7 and 17 are connected internally - if the internal supply is used for input
excitation, then galvanic isolation between analogue output and the digital inputs cannot
be achieved.
A 500mA fuse (FS2) protects the internal 24V supply from external wiring errors. The fuse
is a plug-in type and is easily replaced should it fail.
Warning: Do not attempt to use the internal 24V supply for purposes other than
providing digital input excitation for the Hydro-View.
Relay output connections
The alarm and set-point output relays are implemented using reed-relays as shown in
Figure 27.
Care must be taken to avoid contact welding by fitting external contact snubber (typically
100R in series with 0.1uF) across the contacts when driving inductive loads. You should
also ensure that such loads are fitted with suitable transient suppressors
at the load
to
reduce electromagnetic interference.
The relay contacts are rated at 240Vac 500mA (resistive). An internal series fuse (FS3)
limits the TOTAL load taken by all three relays to 500mA.
Plug-in replacement relays and fuses are available from Hydronix.
Material selection using Digital I/O
This mode allows one of four material calibration tables to be selected. Since this requires
the use of the set-point output relays these functions are automatically disabled when the
mode is selected. The digital input used in the diagram is input 2, but input 1 could also be
used; the input must be configured for material selection using the relevant item on the
Main menu.
The electrical connections for using this method are shown in Figure 28.
