Example - a four bin grouped system using RS485
Figure 17 shows the maximum configuration which may be achieved with the grouping
facility. Although four separate bins are indicated, the same situation may arise with two
twin-gate bins.
In this case, the Hydro-View on the lower left would be configured as a MASTER on its
RS485 port, whilst the remainder would be configured for ASCII HEX on RS485 with a
station address of 1, 2 or 3 as appropriate.
The units would be coupled together with a single twisted-pair RS485 cable as described
in
Installation
.
The analogue output of the master unit would be connected to the batch computer, and
the analogue output variable set to
Group Average.
This variable is the batch average of
the four channels, which is what is required when all four bins are feeding at the same
time.
The
Group Average
variable automatically caters for situations where, for some reason,
batching is performed from less than four bins or gates.
In addition, a bin level sensor input can be provided (level sensor not supplied by
Hydronix) to prevent moisture errors in the event that one bin runs empty during a batch.
