HYDRO-VIEW USER GUIDE

REV 1.06
M =
Moisture content.
A
= weight of container.
B
= weight of container and wet sample.
C
= weight of container and dry sample.
Entering results into the Hydro-View
When you have obtained the moisture content of the sample, you need to enter this value
together with the corresponding
unscaled input
value into the relevant material table.
Calibration results are entered in the following way...
⇒
Select
Sensor Calibration
from the main menu. You will be prompted to enter a
material number with which to associate the results.
⇒
Enter the unscaled input and associated Moisture % in positions 1 or 2 on the
page as appropriate. The Hydro-View requires that the higher moisture content
value is entered in position 2.
As the values for the two calibration points are entered, the values of
m
and
c
are updated
dynamically. These values describe the slope and intercept of the moisture calibration line
which the Hydro-View will use to calculate the moisture reading from the unscaled sensor
input.
⇒
When you finish entering the values, you will be asked to confirm whether or not
the system is to be updated. If you accept, then the material calibration table will
be updated and if this material number is currently in use the sensor calibration will
be changed.
What happens with your results
Entering the results of a calibration test allows the Hydro-View to establish gain (
m
) and
offset (
c
) parameters permitting the display of the absolute moisture content of the
material in use. The moisture content displayed by Hydro-View is given by the linear
scaling equation...
M
mU
c
=
+
-
SSD
where...
M
is the moisture content.
U
is the unscaled input value.
SSD
is the Surface Saturated Dry offset (see below).
m
and
c
are gain and offset parameters calculated automatically by Hydro-View from...

are the unscaled input and moisture content respectively for the second sample.
