Communications diagnostic page
This provides a page of information relating to the performance of the RS232 and RS485
communications ports and will be used to assist the installation and commissioning of a
system. The format is shown below...
•
Figure 13 - Communications diagnostic
The two columns of figures will increment as a communications event of the relevant type
occurs. The events are relevant only to
ASCII-Hex
and
Master
port settings and are
interpreted as follows...
Good
The communications transaction was completed successfully
No reply
The Hydro-View issued a request but did not get a reply within a
predetermined period.
Bad reply
The reply to a request contained invalid data or was of incorrect length.
Overrun
Too many characters were received to process.
Timeout
A frame start character was received, but the rest of the frame did not
complete within the allowed time.
Checksum
The received frame of data contained an invalid checksum.
Char err
A character framing error occurred.
Input 1 / Input 2 use
Two general purpose digital inputs are provided on the Hydro-View. However, different
applications may demand that these be used in different ways and therefore it is possible
to configure each input for a specific use. The options available are…
Ave/Hold
Input is used to control batch averaging of the moisture value.
Relevant only to batch applications such as ready-mix plants.
Coarse /
Fine
Input is used to select between the Coarse and Fine filter control values
set in the Sensor set-up menu.
This is relevant only to mixer applications in pre-cast and similar
industries.
Level
An input indicates that sufficient material is covering the sensor and
therefore that the value from the sensor can be used in the averaging
process.
Relevant only to batch applications such as ready-mix plants.
In no inputs are configured as
level
inputs the material level is always
deemed to be acceptable by the Hydro-View.
Material
Input is used to control material number selection. One of four materials
may be selected in this way as described in Material selection using
digital I/O.
Sync
Input is used to synchronise sensor readings to some external timing
signal. Useful in certain batch mixer applications to help remove
unwanted noise.
