Example - a twin bin grouped system using RS232
Figure 16 shows probably the most common requirement for grouping moisture channels
together. The majority of batch computers only provide a single channel of moisture input
and when feeding simultaneously either from two bins or from another gate on the same
bin there is no provision for combining the results of two moisture measurements.
In this case, the Hydro-View on the left would be configured as a MASTER on its RS232
port, whilst that on the right would be configured as for ASCII HEX on RS232 with a
station address of 1.
The two units would be coupled together with a cross-over RS232 cable.
The analogue output of the master unit would be connected to the batch computer, and
the analogue output variable set to
Group Average.
This variable is the batch average of
the two channels, which is what is required.
The
Group Average
variable automatically caters for situations where, for some reason,
batching is performed from only one bin or gate.
In addition, a bin level sensor input can be provided (level sensor not supplied by
Hydronix) to prevent moisture errors in the event that one bin runs empty during a batch.
