Sensor Connections – Hydro-Probe I 

Hydronix moisture sensors are terminated in a 6-way Bulgin connector with a 1m lead 
attached to the sensor. It is therefore necessary to wire an extension cable between the 
sensor connector and the Hydro-View unit. The connection diagram is given in Figure 21. 

The cable should be 5 or 6 core screened multi-core with 0.5mm

2

 conductors. 

Note that it is NOT satisfactory to use a 4-core cable with terminals 2 and 5 connected at 
the Hydro-View end - this will lead to ‘common impedance’ type interference problems. 

The +15V power rail is protected internally against short circuits by a 500mA plug-in fuse 
(FS1) which may be replaced easily if required. 

Warning:

 

Never connect other equipment to the +/-15V supply intended for the 

moisture sensor.
