Drain oil from reservoir (23).

Retaining ring (internal) (3), drive shaft (1),

woodruff key (2), and ball bearing assembly (4), and

retaining ring (external) (5) as an assembly from

pump housing assembly (9).

•

Ring (external) (5), bearing (4), and key (2)

from shaft (1).

3.

Drive shaft seal (6) using screwdriver to pry from

housing (9).

Clean

L *

All parts in power steering fluid.

Dry parts.

Inspect

•

Drive shaft (1) and splines for scoring,

pitting, or chatter marks.

•

If noted, replace appropriate parts.

Install or Connect

1.

Lubricate seal (6) with power steering fluid.

•

Seal (6) into pump housing assembly (9)

using J 7728.

2.

Key (2), bearing (4), and ring (external) (5) to

shaft (1).

•

Shaft (1) and ring (internal) (3) to housing (9).

3.

Pump assembly to vehicle.

•

Fill reservoir (23) with power steering fluid

GM part number 1050017 (or equivalent

power steering fluid meeting GM Spec

9985010).

•

Bleed air from system, check fluid level.

•

Reservoir cap (25) to reservoir (23).
