4. Turn on the fast charger and slowly increase the

charge rate. Observe the voltmeter. The lamp

should go out at the voltage regulator setting. The

voltage regulator setting should be a minimum of

13.5 volts and a maximum of 15.5 volts.

The test lamp is connected into the circuit exactly as

the rotor is when the regulator is inside the generator.

The regulator shuts off the current to the test lamp

when the regulator setting is reached.

If the regulator cannot be checked, and the regulator

is questionable after checking other components,

replace it with a new or known good regulator.

1. Bearing (4) in the slip ring end frame (5).

• Support the inside of the frame.
• Use a thin wall tube in the space between the

grease cup and the housing to push the bearing

in flush with the housing (figure 13).

2. Bearing (25) in the drive end frame (26).

A. Support the drive end frame on a flat surface.
B. Press the bearing in with a tube against the

outer race of the bearing.

3. Retainer (24) with three screws (23).

Q Tighten

• Screws to 3.0 N-m (26 in. lbs.).

4. Drive end frame on the rotor shaft.
