B. Insert the cage over J 29640 and press the
.cage into the shaft cavity.
7 C. Twist J 36048 and release the cage.

A. Dip the shaft seal seat in clean 625 viscosity;
refrigerant oil. !i
B. Insert the seal Seat onto J 9393-A and slip over
the shaft and down into the shaft cavity.
5. Retainer (24) using J 4245 (figure 24). |

.• Tap lightly with a soft face hammer to set the

CYLINDER HEAD AND VALVE
PLATE REPLACEMENT
+ + Remove or Disconnect (Figures 1, 25 through
29)
• Mount the compressor in a vise or equivalent, f
; 1. Service valve (13) and O-ring seal (14) (figure 26).
! 2; Cylinder head cap screws (11) (figure 2 7 ).; ; :
3. Cylinder head (15) (figure 28).
• Use a hammer and gasket scraper to tap the
outer edge of the cylinder head until it is free of
the valve plate. '
: 4. Vaive plate (18) (figure 29). ,
• Position the gasket scraper between the outside
. ■ edge of the valve plate and the cylinder block
and lightly tap the valve plate loose.
5. Valve plate gasket (17) (figure 29).
6. Cylinder gasket (19) (figure 30).
Inspect
•Valve plate for damage. Remove old gasket materi-

• Cylinder head for damage. Replace if necessary.
Install or Connect (Figures 1, 25 through 30) •

• Coat the cylinder gasket with clean Suniso No.
5GS refrigerant oil. ,!'l!
• Align the cylinder gasket to the locating pin
Y holes and oil orifice in the cylinder block. Thd
gasket has a notch at the bottom of the outsidfe
edge for reference. .|||||
2. Valve plate gasket (17) (figure 29). Mj|||
• Cpat the valve, plate gasket with clean Suriisp
No. 5GS refrigerant oil. . . Jjljlj
? Align the valve plate gasket to the locating pin
holes and oil orifice in the valve plate. The. gasT
ket has a notch at the bottom of the outside
edge for reference.

• Align the valve plate locating: pins to the pin
Hcjles in the block and position the valve plate,
place the discharge, valve, retainer and nut
i ; pointing away from the cylinder block.
