WARNING
l
Check the wearing parts once per 2 to 3 hours to ensure the good skin texture and proper light alignment. If
the skin texture changes, move the sensor to another location. It is best to change the wearing parts once per
4 hours.
NOTE:
l
Do not use photoelectric oximeters and SpO
2
sensors during magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanning,
as the induced current may cause burns.
12.5 Measurement Limitations
During measuring, the measurement accuracy can be affected by:
n
High-frequency electrical interference, such as the interference created by the host system, or interference from
external sources, for example electrosurgical apparatus connected to the system.
n
Diagnostic test.
n
Electrosurgery unit.
n
Intravascular dye injections
n
Electromagnetic field effects, such as nuclear magnetic resonance equipment.
n
Excessive patient movement(patient moves actively or passively).
n
Improper sensor installation or incorrect contact position of the patient
n
Place the sensor on an extremity that has a blood pressure cuff, arterial catheter, or intravascular line.
n
Significant concentrations of non-functional hemoglobin, such as carboxyhemoglobin(COHb) and
methemoglobin(MetHb).
n
Bad circular perfusion of the part being measured
n
For some special patients, it should be a more prudent inspecting in the measurement part. The sensor can not be
clipped on the edema and tender tissue.
n
When the device is carried from cold environment to warm or humid environment, please do not use it
immediately.
n
As to the fingers which are too thin or too cold, it would probably affect the normal measurement of the patients'
SpO
2
and pulse rate, please clip the thick finger such as thumb and middle finger deeply enough into the probe.
n
Make sure the optical path is free from any optical obstacles like rubberized fabric, to avoid inaccurate
measurement.
n
Excessive ambient light may affect the measurement result. It includes fluorescent lamp, dual ruby light, infrared
heater, direct sunlight, etc.
n
The SpO
2
sensor and photoelectric receiving tube should be arranged in a way with the subject’s arteriole in a
position there between.
n
Testee can not use enamel or other makeup.
n
Testee’s fingernail can not be too long.
