2 .4 .3 .25 Tare Entry.
tE 80
The tare weight used by the GS8920 Ticket Printer may either be supplied by the digital weight
indicator or may be entered using the GS8920’s keyboard. Tare entry via the GS8920’s keyboard is
enabled whenever the selection is not OFF. The tare weight entered via the keyboard of the GS8920
Ticket Printer should not exceed the scale’s capacity. To ensure this does not happen, the GS8920
checks all key tare entries. The scale’s capacity is the number of scale divisions entered for this
parameter multiplied by the count by parameter entered below. These settings, entered here, should be
the same value as the settings that were used when the digital weight indicator to which the GS8920 is
connected was setup.

2 .4 .3 .26 Count by.
Cb 1
The count by parameter establishes the form of printout for zero weight as well as the smallest tare
weight that can be entered. In addition, when multiplied by the scale division value above, it
establishes the capacity of the scale. ( decimal places are ignored )
The GS8920 will always print zero weights as “00" for count by 10, 20 or 50 and will always print
zero weights as ”0" for count by 1, 2 or 5. Adjustable

2 .4 .3 .27 Indicator Type.
Ind. 1
The GS8920 can be connected to every Gedge Systems digital weight indicator which has a serial
output as well as to a number of other popular brand indicators.
The serial output on indicators not manufactured by Gedge Systems differs from that on the Gedge
Systems indicators. Also, to meet certain weighing codes of practice, the sign convention used in some
Gedge Systems indicators differs. Therefore, the GS8920 Ticket Printer must be told to which type of
indicator it is connected. Adjustable as shown in the following table.
