1 .5 .6 Listing the Names which are Assigned to Accumulators.

To list the accumulator’s name assignments first access the alpha name routines by entering any code
number in the range 101 to 150. Immediately

ENTER

 is keyed the message

ALPHA

 is displayed.

Key

AC

to obtain a list of all 50 accumulators together with their code numbers and names. Only the

accumulator’s number and name is listed. This key does not list the accumulated weights.

1 .5 .7 Listing all of the Alpha Names in Memory.

To list all of the names in the GS8920’s Alpha Name table first access the alpha name routines by
entering any code number in the range 101 to 150. Immediately

ENTER

 is keyed the message

ALPHA

 is displayed. Key

PRINT

to obtain a list of up to 50 names together with the name’s

reference number. Only names which are not blank spaces are listed.

1 .5 .8 Entering and Changing Alpha Names.

To enter new names into the Alpha Name table or to change existing names, first access the alpha
name routines by entering the number of the name that is to be changed/entered PLUS 100. If the name
whose reference number is 20 is to be changed then enter a code of 120.
Immediately

ENTER

 is keyed the message

ALPHA

 is displayed. Key

ENTER

 to display the

decimal value of the first character of the name.

Decimal values, from the table below, are entered for each of the 12 characters, starting at character 1
which is the leftmost character and finishing at character 12 which is the rightmost character.

Each character is entered by keying in its ASCII decimal value using the numeral keys followed by

ENTER

to save the character and advance to the next character.

The alpha name being entered can be printed during entry by keying

PRINT

. The

AC

 key may be

used to step backwards through the characters and the

CLEAR

key is used to finish the alpha name

entry prior to reaching character 12. Character entry automatically ceases after character 12 with  the
GS8920 returning to its normal mode of operation. The new name is automatically saved to memory as
it is entered.

A simple keystroke example follows where the name

12 Paers

 is to be corrected to

Pears

. Since the

code number used to access the alpha routines is never saved, it does not matter what accumulator is
active for this procedure.

AC

 then

ENTER

CODE/WT

 then

1 1 2 ENTER

ALPHA

 is displayed. Key

ENTER

01 080

is displayed being character 1 whose ASCII decimal value is 80.

Key

ENTER

 to advance to character 2.

02 097

is displayed being character 2 “a”.

Key

1 0 1

 then

ENTER

to save “e” as character 2.

03 101

is displayed being character 3 “a”.

Key

0 9 7

 then

ENTER

to save “a” as character 3.

Key

CLEAR

to finish name entry and return the GS8920 to normal operation.
