10.8 TAWS
CONFIGURATION
1.
Insert the TAWS Enable Card into the top card slot of the PFD1.
2.
While holding the ENT key on PFD1, apply power by closing the PFD1 circuit breaker.
3.
When 'INITIALIZING SYSTEM' displays in the upper left corner of the PFD, release the
ENT key.
4.
Turn the MFD and PFD2 on in the same manner.
5.
On the PFD1 select the CONFIGURATION UPLOAD Page using the FMS knob.
6.
Activate the cursor and highlight the 'Enable TAWS file' in the FILE field.
7.
Press the ENT key.
8.
Highlight AIRFRAME in the SECTION field.
9.
Press the LOAD softkey.
10.
Select YES and press the ENT key to acknowledge the prompt.
11.
Monitor the status of the upload. When the upload is finished, press the ENT key to
acknowledge the confirmation.
12.
View the SUMMARY field and ensure that all items are complete.
13.
De-activate the cursor.
14.
Cycle power to the PFD1/2 and MFD to reboot the system.
15.
Verify that the MAP – TERRAIN PROXIMITY page on the MFD has been renamed as the
MAP – TAWS Page. Due to time required for the GIA to exit configuration mode, power
must be cycled to the PFD1/2 and MFD following the first boot up in normal mode (after
exiting configuration mode). Failure to do so may result in an erroneous ‘TAWS FAIL’
message.
16.
Cycle power again to the PFD1/2 and MFD to reboot the system.
17.
Verify the unit successfully passes TAWS self-test.
