Rack-mount Type (16U) Server

This chapter provides an overview of the PRIMEPOWER850 rack-mount type (16U)
server, and describes the functions of main components. This chapter also describes
the preparations for use and unit expansion.
3.1 Overview
This overview provides a brief description of the features and appearance of the main
unit of the PRIMEPOWER850 rack-mount type (16U) server.
• Features

Supports a multiprocessor configuration of up to 16 CPUs
l
Supports up to 128 gigabytes of main memory.
l
Supports 16 PCI slots (4 x 33/66 MHz + 12 x 33 MHz).
l
Supports 12 optional PCI slots (3 x 33/66 MHz + 9 x 33 MHz) if a PCI slot
expansion unit is installed. Up to two PCI slot expansion units can be installed.
l
Supports four built-in Ultra SCSI disk drives (as options).
l
Supports one built-in DAT tape drive (as an option).
l
Supports one DVD-ROM drive as standard equipment.
l
Supports one 100Base-TX/10Base-T port per one system board, one serial port
(RS-232C), and a keyboard port as standard components.
l
Supports redundant fan configuration (as standard), N+1 redundant power supply
configuration (as an option), and dual power feed configuration (as an option).
Note: Simultaneous use of the N+1 redundant power configuration and the dual
power feed configuration is not supported.
