2.3 Preparing for Operation

• General installation notes

Keep ventilation holes clear of obstructions.

Install the PRIMEPOWER650 rack-mount type (8U) server away from direct

sunlight or sources of heat.

Install the PRIMEPOWER650 rack-mount type (8U) server in an environment free

of dust, corrosive gas, and ocean spray.

Isolate the PRIMEPOWER650 rack-mount type (8U) server from vibration.

Install the PRIMEPOWER650 rack-mount type (8U) server on a level surface.

The AC power supply source must be properly grounded, with a maximum

resistance of 100 Ohms. Also, do not ground the AC power supply source using a

shared ground. Use only an independent grounding point. A shared ground may

cause the server to malfunction.

Avoid running cables beneath a unit and prevent cables from becoming taut.

Never disconnect the power cable while the unit is powered on.

Keep objects off the top of the PRIMEPOWER650 rack-mount type (8U) server at

all times.

Raise the ambient room temperature slowly in the winter to prevent condensation

in the PRIMEPOWER650 rack-mount type (8U) server.

Use the PRIMEPOWER650 rack-mount type (8U) server only after it has reached

an operating temperature within the specified temperature range.

Install the PRIMEPOWER650 rack-mount type (8U) server away from EM noise

generating devices such as photocopiers, air conditioners, or welders.

Take electrostatic prevention measures. Note that many carpets generate static

electricity that can cause the PRIMEPOWER650 rack-mount type (8U) server to

malfunction.

When moving the PRIMEPOWER650 rack-mount type (8U) server, do not pull on

the front cover. This could cause damage to the unit.
