Introduction

This chapter documents options that are available for the 5820A Oscilloscope

Calibrators.

5820A-5 Option

The 5820A-5 option allows you to operate up to five oscilloscope channels without

changing cables. This allows you to perform fast, automated calibrations with

documented procedures and results while freeing the operator to complete other work.

You can find this option discussed throughout the manual where appropriate.

GHz Option

Inclusion of the GHz option modifies several of the Calibrator’s specifications. The

following specification tables supersede those with the similar titles in Chapter 1.

Fast Edge Specifications

•

Leveled Sine Wave Specifications (> 600 MHz)

•

Time Marker Specifications

Using the GHz Option Functions

The GHz option extends the ranges of the Leveled Sine Wave and Time Marker functions

as follows:

•

Leveled Sine Wave frequency range is increased from 600 MHz to 2.1 GHz.

•

Time Marker function smallest period is decreased from 2 ns to 500 ps.

Access to these extended ranges is automatic if the GHz Option is installed. Use the

operating methods described in Chapter 4.
