Verify the 5820A Calibrator is powered and in the reset condition. (If in doubt, press 
the 

o

 key on the 5820A Calibrator front panel.)

In the Main Control Window, select the Remote command from the Control menu. 
This brings the focus back to the Parameter Input Window with the only selectable 
item the Listeners or Device List check boxes. Check box 4, or the corresponding 
GPIB Port Address you selected for the 5820A Calibrator. (Below is typical.)

Click OK. Observe the 5820A Calibrator Control Display changes to REMOTE 
CONTROL (below).

If the Control Display does not change to REMOTE CONTROL, the IEEE-488 
interface is not working properly. Check Step 3 of the “IEEE-488 Port Setup 
Procedure” to verify gpib is selected as the Host port, and to verify the gpib port 
address used in this procedure. If all is correct, check the ZT-1444A jumper and DIP 
switch settings (Appendix C), and finally cabling between the PC and 5820A.

In a similar manner, select the Local command from the Control menu, then click OK 
in the Parameter Input Window. Observe the 5820A Calibrator Control Display 
changes back to the reset condition (below).
