Overview

This chapter describes important safety information and correct procedures for replacing the Aspen
8810 fan tray with the Aspen 8810 spare fan tray on the Aspen 8810 chassis. It further describes
important safety information and correct procedures for replacing an Aspen 8810 PSU/fan controller
with an Aspen 8810 spare PSU/fan controller on the Aspen chassis.

The Aspen chassis contains two PSU/fan controllers that collect and report data from the 700/1200W
AC power supply units and the Aspen fan tray.

The Aspen PSU/fan controllers intervene in the event of power inconsistencies and provide primary/
secondary redundancy should a PSU/fan controller fail.

WARNING!

Aspen PSU/fan controllers and Aspen Spare PSU/fan controllers are NOT hot-swappable at this time.

Pre-Installation Requirements

You need the following tools and equipment to remove the fan tray and install the spare fan tray on the
Aspen chassis:
