The sensor electrode must be permanently wetted to prevent the diaphragm from
dehydrating. During long measurement times or extended storage inside the storage
container the diaphragm and the silver ring must be completely immersed in the
electrolyte solution.

A pair of generator electrodes consisting of a platinum cathode with salt bridge and a
silver anode is used to produce the silver ions required for chemical precipitation.
