JT5 Operator’s Manual

Antifreeze Drilling Unit

CMW

Antifreeze Drilling Unit

Your drilling unit can be left overnight in freezing conditions by circulating a polyproplyene-based antifreeze
(p/n 265-644) through optional antifreeze system before shutdown.

Add Antifreeze

Without optional antifreeze kit:

Move carriage to front of drill frame.

Position 1-gal (4-L) bucket under spindle.

Connect hose to drilling fluid pump inlet
(shown).

Insert hose into container of approved
antifreeze.

Turn drilling fluid control fully clockwise to off
position.

Start unit and set throttle to slow position.

Slowly turn drilling fluid control
counterclockwise to start fluid flow.

Run drilling fluid pump until antifreeze comes
out of spindle.

Turn drilling fluid control fully clockwise to stop flow.

Using optional antifreeze kit:

Fill antifreeze tank with 1 gal (4 L) of
approved antifreeze.

Move carriage to front of drill frame.

Position 1-gal (4-L) bucket under spindle.

Open valve between antifreeze tank and
head of drilling fluid pump.

Turn drilling fluid control fully clockwise to off
position.

Start unit and set throttle to slow position.

Slowly turn drilling fluid control
counterclockwise to start fluid flow.

Run drilling fluid pump until antifreeze comes
out of spindle.

Turn drilling fluid control fully clockwise to stop flow.
