Chapter 12: Ventilation operation
Natural ventilation: How it works
Natural ventilation is one of the three ventilation modes supported by EDGE. It allows outside atmos-
pheric conditions to circulate the air in the barn in a natural unimpeded way.
Natural ventilation stage
Natural ventilation is considered as one ventilation stage. All Natural inlets should be assigned to this
stage, and their operation temperatures are related to Natural stage settings. Also, since each Natural
inlet is assigned to specific temperature probes, Natural inlet control can be specific to a building or a
house/barn zone.
NOTE:
In a Power Natural ventilation system, Natural ventilation is related to Power ventilation settings
When no Power ventilation is configured, Natural ventilation is related set point.

Natural ventilation stage settings in relation with Power ventilation settings
NOTE:
Natural offset and Natural bandwidth are adjusted in ventilation setup.
The following information concerns the Natural stage:
• The start temperature is the reference temperature for Natural minimum opening obtained by
adding the house/barn temperature set point, the Power bandwidth, and the Natural offset.
• The stop temperature is the reference temperature for a zero percent opening (inlets closed)
obtained by adding the house/barn temperature set point, the Power bandwidth, and the Natural
offset, and subtracting 1 °F (default value) and the stop temperature that can be modified in the ven-
tilation grid.
• The maximum temperature is the reference temperature for Natural maximum opening obtained by
adding house/barn temperature set point, Power bandwidth, Natural offset, and Natural bandwidth
When no Power ventilation is configured, Natural ventilation uses a set point: Natural ventilation starts
when the temperature reaches the house/barn temperature set point plus the Natural offset, and stops
when the house/barn temperature set point plus Natural offset minus 1°F (default value). The stop tem-
perature can be edited in the ventilation grid.
