Chapter 12: Ventilation operation

Natural inlet settings in relation to Power ventilation settings and Natural stage settings
Natural ventilation logic
Natural inlets are closed in all ventilation modes except for Natural ventilation. In Natural ventilation, each
inlet opens and closes according to its assigned probes, inlet stage settings, and its offset. Inlets start to
open (at minimum opening) when the average temperature of the assigned probe reaches the start tem-
pe Natural inlet offset.
As temperature in the house/barn increases, all Natural inlets may open according to each inlet’s average
temperature.
Natural ventilation is considered as fully induced when all inlet whisker switches are engaged for Natural
or all inlets reach the
Natural Mode At Position
value. The Natural inlets which don’t have a mechanical
whisker switch use the setting
Natural Mode At
opening at which Natural ventilation is considered
induced.
Then equipment assignation for Natural ventilation, as per the ventilation grid, becomes effective. Fans
can then operate as they are assigned in the ventilation grid -
Full On or Off
. Other inlets can also oper-
ate as they are assigned in the ventilation grid - totally closed, totally opened, or follow another Natural
inlet.
Natural opening calculation
If the average temperature of the inlet probe increases above the
Start Natural
setting , the inlet contin-
ues to open beyond minimum opening in an exponential manner until the maximum opening of the inlet is
reached at the maximum temperature set in the ventilation grid for this inlet.
With higher temperatures in the house/barn, Natural ventilation can be maintained with all Natural inlets
open. If the temperature increases and the average temperature of probes assigned reaches Tunnel
mode settings and Tunnel fans and inlets are configured, Tunnel ventilation mode begins.
Natural ventilation curves
The Natural ventilation curve dictates the Natural ventilation operation range, considering the outside
temperature, Natural offset, and bandwidth according to Age. Offset settings can be turned off to indicate
