When you choose a fixed temperature heater, you must first enter a start temperature. You can then enter
a stop temperature consisting of the number of degrees above the start temperature at which you want
the heater to stop.
For example, if you want the heater to start at 78 degrees Fahrenheit, you would enter 78.0 as the start
temperature. If you want the heater to stop at 79 degrees Fahrenheit, you would enter +1 as the stop
temperature.
When you choose fixed offset on set point, which means that the heater settings are related to house/
barn set point, you must enter a negative offset to get your start temperature. The stop temperature is still
an offset of the start temperature.
For example, if you want the heater to start at 78 degrees Fahrenheit, and the set point is 80, you would
enter -2 as a start temperature. If you want the heater to stop at 79 degrees Fahrenheit, you would enter
+1 as the stop temperature.
Dual capacity heaters
There are two ways to setup control temperatures on dual capacity heaters you can use a fixed tempera-
ture or fixed offsets.
When you choose fixed temperature, which means that the heater settings are independent from house/
barn set point, you must start by entering the temperature at which you would like the heater to start on
low fire (
Start low
). You must also enter a
Hot start time
, which is a time in minutes indicating how long
the heater must start on high fire to preheat.
Hot start time
is mostly used for radiant tube heaters. Once
those two values are entered, you can enter a negative offset of the
Start low
temperature to get your
Start high
temperature, and a positive offset on the
Start low
temperature to get your
Stop
temperature
.
When you choose fixed offsets, which means that the heater settings are related to house/barn set point,
you must enter a negative offset on the
House/barn temperature set point
to get your
Start low
temper-
ature. You must enter your
Hot start time
, and then a negative offset on the
Start low
temperature to get
a
Start high
temperature. You must also enter a positive offset on the
Start low
temperature to get the
Stop temperature
.
Variable capacity heaters
There are two ways to setup control temperatures on variable capacity heaters. You can use a fixed tem-
perature or fixed offsets.
When you choose a fixed temperature heater, which means that the heater settings are independent of
house/barn set point, you must first enter a start temperature . You can then enter a stop temperature
consisting of the number of degrees above the start temperature at which you want the heater to stop.
When you choose fixed offset on set point, which means that the heater settings are related to house/
barn set point, you must enter a negative offset to give you a start temperature. The stop temperature is
still an offset of the start temperature.
Brooder setup
Heating equipment is divided into 3 categories. Settings can be based on a fixed temperature or fixed
offset on the house/barn temperature set point as control parameters.
Single capacity brooders
There are two ways to setup control temperatures on single capacity brooders. You can use a fixed tem-
perature or fixed offset.
