peak finding program to better determine the activity of an isotope when multiple peaks or
isotopes are present. For this reason, the efficiency recorded in the isotope library will
always be lower than the full spectrum efficiency.
In order for the software to identity an isotope in the wipe test, the isotope must be selected
for use in the wipe test program. This selection is also provided in the Isotope Library.
When all isotopes are selected for identification, the automatic peak finding program will
report any isotope whose peak keV is within
±
5% of the energy listed in the Isotope Library.
Since over 60 isotopes are stored in memory, selecting all isotopes does not provide a useful
interpretation of the wipe test results. A recommended procedure is to select for wipe test
identification only those isotopes that are used frequently. Note that all peaks are listed by
energy in the initial wipe results, but only those peaks identified as an isotope are stored in
the wipe test history files.
EDIT INFORMATION
If you wish to review or edit any information which has already been entered for a wipe test,
select the appropriate wipe location from the Wipe Location drop down box. Use the
Tab
key or trackball indicator to select the desired text box. The previously entered value will
appear as highlighted. Type over the existing information, and choose the
SAVE CHANGE
button. If you do not select the SAVE CHANGE button, any changes made to the wipe test
information will not be saved, and the previously entered information will be restored when
you exit the Wipe Test screen.
DELETING WIPE TEST INFORMATION
To delete a single wipe test, first select the desired wipe from the Location drop down box,
then choose the
DELETE button. Figure 7-3 will appear and require you to confirm the
delete.

Yes to delete all of the wipe test information stored on the selected wipe test, or No to
undo the delete command and return to the previous screen.
To delete all of the wipe tests, choose Delete All from the menu bar located on the left side of
the top of the screen. Figure 7-4 will appear and require you to confirm the delete. Select
