Room Background Measurement 

The next step in the measurement process is the room background count.

To take a background measurement, select the 

OK

 button.  You will only have to measure 

the room background once.  To exit from the measurement process at any time without 
saving a background measurement, select 

Cancel

.  After the background measurement has 

been completed, you will be given the opportunity to reject the count.  Figure 6-26 will appear 
and ask for data verification.  Select 

YES

 to accept the count and save the data to the patient 

result file, select 

NO

 to reject the count data and return to the previous measurement in the 

counting sequence. 
 
You have the option of repeating the room background measurements.  After the first room 
background count for a particular isotope, subsequent room background counts for that 
isotope do not have to be made if on the same day.  Upon beginning a room background 
count, a window will appear like the one shown in Figure 6-29.
