To define a second ROI, click on the up arrow beside the ROI number box until 2 appears,
and repeat the procedure outlined above to define the beginning and ending channels.
Continue this process for a maximum of 16 ROI’s.
To delete an ROI which has already been defined, use the up and down arrow keys beside
the ROI number box to select the correct ROI number. The up arrow increases the ROI
number, the down arrow decreases the ROI number. Then select the
CLEAR THIS ROI
button. Only the selected ROI will be deleted.
To exit the set ROI screen, choose the
CLOSE button. To delete all of the ROI’s defined for
a spectrum, choose the Clear ROI’s button from the main MCA screen. This will delete all of
the defined ROI’s for the spectrum displayed. Note that ROI’s are only stored in the
temporary MCA memory, and are not transferred to any other application’s program. ROI’s
defined in the MCA mode must be saved to disk and recalled for future use. Detailed
instructions for saving and recalling count data or MCA settings are provided in the following
paragraphs. The count data and ROI information is also printed on the hard copy report of
any spectrum.
SAVE AND RESTORE COUNT DATA OR MCA SETTINGS
Save MCA Settings
Spectral count data and MCA settings may be saved to hard or floppy disk, and recalled for
future evaluation. Note the count data and MCA settings are saved to two separate files.
After acquisition has been stopped, choose the
File option located on the upper menu bar.
To save the voltage, gain, Zero, LLD, ULD, and ROI’s defined, select the Save MCA
settings... choice. Figure 10-11 will appear.
Enter the file name for the MCA settings file following MS-DOS filename conventions, up to
eight alphanumeric characters with a period separating a three character extension. The

2000 will default to the c:\SYS2000 directory with a ".MCA" extension. To save
the data to floppy, select the correct drive from the drives list, and enter the desired file
name. To cancel the save, choose the
Cancel button. To save the spectrum, choose the
OK button. This will store the MCA settings in memory and exit the save screen.
