CHAPTER 2 FUNCTION & OPERATION
4. List of Sensors
This machine has the following main
sensors. In addition, there are a power supply
sensor that turns the power OFF and a
document sensor for the ultrasonic sensor.
No.
Name
Functions and features
1
Document sensor
Detects whether there is a document on the pickup tray. This
sensor functions only when the pickup tray is in its home
position. The light-receiving element also serves as a pickup
tray sensor.
2
Pickup sensor
Detects whether a document is in the pickup position.
3 Registration
front
sensor (left/right)
Detects whether there is a document in front of the regis-
tration roller and double feed sensor.
4 Registration
rear
sensor (left/right)
Detects whether there is a document behind the registration
roller.
5 Eject
sensor
(left/right)
Detects whether there is a document in front of the eject
roller.
6 Skew
sensor
(left/right)
Detects whether the document extends beyond edges
horizontally.
7
Double feed sensor
(left/center/right)
Detects double feed of a document. 3 sets of ultrasonic
sensors are mounted.
8
Door sensor
Detects whether the upper unit is open.
9
Imprinter door sensor
Detects whether the imprinter cover is open.
10
Platen roller sensor
(left/right)
Detects the home position of the platen roller. In the detec-
tion state, the exposed surface is white.
11
CIS unit home sensor
(upper/lower)
Detects the home position of the CIS unit for image reading.
In the detection state, the CIS unit is in the image reading
position.
12
Reverse roller sensor
Detects the home position of the reverse roller. In the de-
tection state, the roller is positioned at the highest point.
However, the sensor enters detection state slightly before
the upper mechanical safety point.
13
Pickup roller sensor
Detects the home position of the pickup roller. In the detec-
tion state, the roller is positioned at the lowest point.
14
Tray home sensor
(upper/center/lower)
Detects the home position of the pickup tray. The home
position can be changed in the user mode, but the home
position for the system is the lower position.
15 Staple
sensor
(left/right)
Detects buildup of documents bundled with staples. Con-
sists of 4 LEDs and 1 light-receiving element. The 4 LEDs
light in order and the light from them is detected by the
light-receiving element on the opposite side.
