4. Open the release handles as shown in the illustration. The blade server moves out of
the bay approximately 0.6 cm (0.25 inch).
5. Pull the blade server out of the bay.
6. Place either a blade filler or another blade in the bay within 1 minute.
3.3 Removing the blade server cover
To open the blade server cover, complete the following steps:

1. Read the safety information that begins on page vii and Installation guidelines on
page 23.
2. If the blade server is installed in a Blade Chassis, remove it (see Removing the blade
server from the Blade Chassis on page 25 for instructions).
3. Carefully lay the blade server on a flat, static-protective surface, with the cover side
up.
4. Press the blade-cover release on each side of the blade server or expansion unit and
lift the cover open, as shown in the illustration.
5. Lay the cover flat, or lift it from the blade server and store for future use.
