Extended Optical Model

•

Black or highly pigmented materials, metallic particles, carbon black (imaginary values for
metals are similar in magnitude as the refractive index) - 1 to 10

Extended Optical Model

Although refractive indices are generally wavelength dependent, only use this option in the rare
cases when the wavelength dependence of the refractive index is large, such as with colored
pigments and toners.

Creating an Optical Model

To make an optical model:

Run

and select

Make Optical Model

.

IMPORTANT

Clicking the

R.I. Table

button will open the Refractive Index table.

Clicking on the

Dry Powder Module

check box will disable the

Extended Optical Model (PIDS)

and

will switch to the .rff file name extension.

Enter a name for the optical model in the

File name

field.

Enter any description about the Optical Model in the

Comment

field.
