6.13 Life Expectancy of Code Tag Information
"Life Expectancy" is stored in code tag to control data retention time or to change time of code tag.
(1) Life expectancy information
< Code tag / EEPROM memory > BIS C-1xx-04/05/11
Code tag with EEPROM memory stores "the date of manufacture" as "life expectancy information".
This cod tag is warranted 8 years in the range of temperature indicated in the specifications,
regardless of reading and writing time.
< Code tag / FRAM memory > BIS C-1xx-32
Code tag with FRAM memory stores "Data retention time" as "life expectancy information".
This code tag is warranted 10 years in the range of temperature indicated in the specifications,
regardless of reading and writing time.
The "data retention time :8 years EEPROM memory ,10 years FRAM memory " are standard point of the

(

shortest time to retain written data in the code tag, therefore the data is not cleared when it is past the
indicated time.
The code tag with FRAM memory can be extended 10 years newly and use continuously by rewriting data
while data retain time.
(2) Store procedure of "life expectancy information"
"Life expectancy information" is stored in the last 4 bytes of code tag as the following example.
Processor has the write protect function to avoid writing data in this area

ex.) Memory capacity : 511 byte

(3) Reading of "life expectancy information"
Processor sets "life expectancy information" to remote register according to procedure of "reading instruction
of life expectancy of code tag information" on the next page.
It can be possible to get "life expectancy of code tag information" by reading "life expectancy information" as
a remote input signal.

Note)
The year and month that "past 10 years since factory shipment" is written as the first standard "data retention
time" in code tag with FRAM memory.
This is written for the application that requires controlling life expectancy when the code tag with SRAM memory
and FRAM memory are used together in a system.
