The
Acquire
command starts the antenna towards it’s pointing sequence for the “Target” satellite.
Acquisition runs in accordance with configuration details for the currently selected “Profile”.
The
Move to…
command allows the user to move the antenna directly to a desired coordinate location.
A “Move to” window will be presented for coordinates upon command. Note that manual movement to
a coordinate location requires a “Home” sequence first to initialize axis sensors.
The
Peak
command performs a peaking sequence using the current signal source which begins with
“Coarse” peaking sequence. This may be used to insure that the antenna pointing is optimum should the
pedestal be bumped or moved slightly.
The
Repeak
command performs a peaking sequence using the current signal source which begins with
“Fine” peaking sequence. This may be used to insure that the antenna pointing is optimum should the
pedestal have moved slightly or if pointed under poor weather conditions.
The
Track
command performs the currently selected mode for satellite tracking. Tracking is an optional
feature and the command will only function when the appropriate module is installed.
The
X Pol
command will move the antenna feed 90 degrees to receive the satellite’s opposite
polarization. This is typically used to simplify initial antenna cross-pol isolation testing. The direction of
the feed movement will depend upon the initial feed angle when initiating the command.
Note - See the AAQ Remote GUI Chapters 4 & 7 for additional descriptions &
information on command
functions.
5.8 Profile System
5.8.1 Discussion on Profiles
Profiles are effectively a group of settings which are specific to the target or reference satellite you
choose to acquire.
Reference satellite is used to correct any heading error from the compass.
Target satellite is the user’s assigned satellite.
For a typical system, the Profile settings (also called Parameters or configuration items) will change
very little, if at all for the various satellites in your target list.
One or more factory test Profiles are delivered with each antenna system. These contain all of the
basic parameters needed for operating the system and are initially “copied forward” when adding a
