Maintenance

20.7  Replacing the Pilot

Before you begin:

• 

Ensure the fireplace is off and cool before servicing

•  Ensure the gas supply is turned OFF and disconnect the 

power supply

• 

Remove the fireplace surround (recommended) or open the 

control access cover. See 

Section 6.4

 and 

Section 16.0 

• 

Remove the barrier screen. See 

Section 14.0

• 

Remove glass door. See 

Section 15.0

• 

Remove burner media. See 

Section 18.0

• 

Remove panel set (if applicable). See 

Section 17

• 

Remove the burner. See 

Section 20.6

Step 1:

 Remove the two (2) 1/4" Tek Screws securing the pilot to 

the pilot extrusion. Pull the pilot up to access the bottom.

Step 2:

 Use a 1/2" wrench to hold the pilot and a 7/16" wrench 

to remove the pilot gas line. If preferred, disconnect the pilot line 

from the valve. This gas line will be used for the new pilot.

Step 3:

 Mark and unplug the pilot wires from the control board.

 Remove the copper pilot line from the valve.

CAUTION:

 Label all wires prior to disconnection when servicing controls. Wiring errors can cause improper and dangerous 

operation. Verify proper operation after servicing. This appliance, when installed, must be electrically grounded in accordance with 

local codes or, in the absence of local codes, with the 

National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70, or the Canadian Electrical code, 

CSA C22.1

Installation is the reverse of removal. 

Tuck wires neatly down and away from the firebox upon installation.

Check for gas leaks when installation is complete.
