Sample Clock Field Descriptions 

 

Internal Clock Box 

This entire box is grayed out except when “Clock Mode” is set to “Internal” or 
“External Ref”. 

Internal Clock / 

Desired Frequency 

Eight digit control with scrolling. User enters desired sample clock frequency. 
Default is 80,000,000Hz. 

Internal Clock / Actual 

Frequency 

Eight digit display only of sample clock frequency actually produced. Display 
is updated when “OK” is pushed. 

Internal Clock / OK 

Push Button 

Updates “Actual Frequency”, “R Counter”, “N Counter”, “HSDIV”, and “LSDIV” 
displays to correlate with the “Desired Frequency”. 

Internal Clock / R 

Counter, N Counter, 

HSDIV & LSDIV 

Displays the values of the clock registers used to produce the “Actual 
Frequency” after pressing ‘OK”. 

Clock Mode 

Three position target switch that selects “Internal” or “External” clock input or 
“External Ref” for the PLL 10MHz reference signal. Note that the reference 
signal can be applied only to the “CLK 2” input on the DBS9900 front panel. 
Default is ‘Internal”. 

External Sample Clock 

Box 

This entire box is grayed out except when “Clock Mode” is set to “External”. 

I/O-1 

Two position target switch that selects either the “CLK-1” or “CLK-2” input on 
the DBS9900 front panel and feeds it to I/O-1 (module A). Default is “Clk-1”. 

I/O-2 

Two position target switch that selects either the “CLK-1” or “CLK-2” input on 
the DBS9900 front panel and feeds it to I/O-2 (module B). Default is “Clk-1”. 

Threshold Box 

This entire box is grayed out except when “Clock Mode” is set to “External”. 

Clk-1 

Bipolar, scrolling control with X.X resolution. Sets threshold voltage for “Clk-1” 
external clock input. Default is 0V. 

Clk-2 

Bipolar, scrolling control with X.X resolution. Sets threshold voltage for “Clk-2” 
external clock input. Default is 0V. 

Ext Ref 

Bipolar, scrolling control with X.X resolution. Sets threshold voltage for the 
10MHz external reference signal. Note that this signal is applied to the 
DBS9900 front panel Clk-2 input only. Default is 0V. This control is grayed out 
except when “Clock Mode” is set to “External Ref.”. 

Apply 

Any user changes on the soft panel will not take effect until the “Apply” button 
is pushed.
