6.8 Trigger Source Control Register
The Trigger Source Control Register (0x0C) is used to multiplex the eight TTLTRG lines and the
two ECLTRG lines from the backplane and the two front panel trigger inputs (FPA and FPB) to
Module A and Module B independently. Both modules can use any one of the 12 lines as an input
to its trigger circuit. Also available are register trigger bits in the Trigger Mode Register that can
be used to trigger the module via software. Each module can also drive any one of the 10
backplane lines, or not drive any of them. The modules cannot drive the front panel trigger
connectors. A module should not be set to receive and drive a trigger from the same line. Module
A and Module B may be set to drive the same backplane trigger line. This, however, will result in
a wired OR function for that trigger output.
•
FPA = Front Panel Trigger A
•
FPB = Front Panel Trigger B
Some modules can drive an additional SYNChronization signal onto one of the 8 TTL backplane
trigger lines. This is selected by the same Trigger output Select field in the Trigger Source Control
Register that selects the primary trigger output. The SYNC signal will always drive
BP_TRIGOUT(N+4) where N is the PRIMARY TRIGGER output. For example, if a code of 1001
is set, the PRIMARY TRIGGER will drive BP_TRIGOUT1 and SYNC will drive BP_TRIGOUT5.
Or, if a code of 1111 is set, the PRIMARY TRIGGER will drive BP_TRIGOUT7 and SYNC will
drive BP_TRIGOUT3.
