4.3 Fire Hazards
WARNINGS
Do not use in the presence of flammables or explosives such as volatile anesthetics, alcohol,
certain surgical preparation solutions, or other such substances. An explosion and/or fire could
occur.
Use only nasal or masked type oxygen‐administering equipment in conjunction with the Mobile
Patient Bed. The use of any other type of oxygen‐administering equipment can result in a fire
hazard.
When using nasal or masked type oxygen‐administering equipment, properly route and secure
the oxygen or air tubing to ensure that it does not become entangled, pinched, and/or severed
during operation of the Mobile Patient Bed.
Do not expose the battery to heat, flames, or sparks.
4.4 Additional Safety Considerations
WARNINGS
If the Mobile Patient Bed becomes unresponsive during system operation, press the emergency
stop button to rapidly disable electrical power to the bed motors.
If a patient is to be left unattended, place the bed in the lowest position to minimize the risk from
falls.
Always lock the Mobile Patient Bed casters before adjusting the bed and before patient loading
and unloading. Even with the casters properly locked, the bed may move under some conditions
on flooring surfaces such as tile or wood. Use on these surfaces must be evaluated and deemed
safe by the healthcare facility before using the Mobile Patient Bed.
When adjusting or moving the Mobile Patient Bed, always ensure that the patient is properly
positioned within the confines of the bed. Do not allow the patient’s extremities to protrude over
the side of the bed or between the bed rails when adjusting or moving the bed.
Moving parts and/or powered mechanisms present a potential pinching hazard and can cause
serious injury. Only operate the Mobile Patient Bed with persons clear of all mechanisms. Always
keep hands clear of moving parts.
This Mobile Patient Bed has a safe working load of 181 kg (399 lb). Do not overload the bed or
place excessive weight on the headrest assembly, backrest, footrest, or side rails. The patient’s
body weight should be evenly distributed over the surface of the bed.
Do not attempt to access the battery; the battery is not user‐serviceable. If the battery enclosure
has been compromised, avoid contact with internal components. If the battery is deemed to be
faulty, does not hold a charge, or will not operate the functions of the bed, contact
OPTIMEDICA
Service for battery replacement.
