Appendix A – Chapter 2 Mobile Patient Bed Operation

Software Release: cOS 5.00

To activate pivot lock mode, press the

(pivot lock) button on the control pendant. The

button illuminates, and the rolling mechanism on the patient right caster at the front of the bed
locks; the swivel mechanism remains unlocked. The rolling and swivel mechanisms on the
remaining three casters also remain unlocked.

To deactivate pivot lock mode, press the

(pivot lock) button on the control pendant.

Activating/Deactivating Caster Lock Mode

Caster lock mode enables the user to simultaneously lock all four casters to immobilize the bed.
To activate caster lock mode:

• press the

(caster lock) button on the control pendant;

• press the

(caster lock) button on the patient right side of the backrest or the patient

left side of the footrest; or

• press the lock foot pedal on either side of the bed.

When caster lock mode is activated, the caster lock buttons on the control pendant, backrest,
and footrest illuminate.

To deactivate caster lock mode, press any caster lock button on the control pendant, backrest,
or footrest.

Manually Unlocking the Casters

If the Mobile Patient Bed becomes unresponsive and/or the emergency stop button is pressed,
you can manually unlock the casters by rotating the knob on the face of each caster counter-
clockwise.

2.4 Moving the Bed

WARNING

When adjusting or moving the Mobile Patient Bed, always ensure that the patient is properly
positioned within the confines of the bed. Do not allow the patient’s extremities to protrude over
the side of the bed or between the bed rails when adjusting or moving the bed.

Do not move the Mobile Patient Bed over a threshold or other obstacle greater than 10 mm in
height. Doing so may result in user or patient injury.

To minimize vibrations to the patient, pull (do not push) the bed over any threshold.

CAUTION

Do not roll the bed over the AC power cord, control pendant cord, or any

CATALYS®

System cords.

Doing so may permanently damage the cords, requiring replacement.

The Mobile Patient Bed can be moved in the chair or bed position. To move the Mobile Patient
Bed:
