REMOVING THE SHEAVE DRUM
Remove:
• Sheave drum
Turn the sheave drum clockwise until
the spiral spring is free.
Removing steps
(1) Release the lock.
(2) Pull out the starter rope and make it
hooked by the cutaway on the
sheave drum.
(3) Turn the sheave drum clockwise.
(4) Take off the starter rope from the starter
handle .
(5) Remove bolts , drive plate , drive
pawl spring , and sheave drum .
NOTE:
• Turn the sheave drum so that the cut-
away on the outer surface of the sheave
drum faces toward the starter handle.
• Pass the starter rope through the
cutaway .
WARNING
When removing the sheave drum, be sure
to make it slow and steady to prevent the
spiral spring from popping up at you.
REMOVING THE SPIRAL SPRING
Remove:
• Spiral spring
WARNING
Be careful so that the spiral spring does not
pop out when removing it. Remove it by
allowing it out one turn of the winding
each time.
