6. Run the belt in the reverse direction (motor pushing) and note to which side the belt shifts.
Do not let it shift beyond the edge of the motor or idler drums.
In the reverse direction, the adjustment roller on the motor side is the most effective. If the
belt shifts to the left, tighten the left side Tapbolt. If the belt shifts to the right, tighten the right
side Tapbolt. Loosening the bolt on the right side is equivalent to tightening the bolt on the
left side and vice versa.
7. Re-apply power and start the conveyor belt by pressing a direction button on the Operator
screen.
8. Allow the conveyor belt to run and ensure the conveyor belt slowly returns to center.
5.4.2 Check the Conveyor Motor
The Conveyor Motor runs when the buttons FRW or REV is selected on the Operator interface.
The motor is usually at the entrance of the tunnel, which is usually on the left side when facing
the Operator Key Switch. The motor is the conveyor roller with a wire on one end.
1. Verify that the drums are turning.
2. Verify the Conveyor Belt moves in both directions.
If the Conveyor Motor only moves in one direction, the Motor must be replaced. See
Replace and Setup the Motor Drive
To check the motor connections, proceed as follows:
1. Verify the connection at the Power Distribution Unit and the Motor Drive is secure.
2. Remove and inspect the Molex 15-pin connector on the cable between the Computer and
the Motor Drive. This is accessed via the top security access panel.
3. Make sure that all the wires are secure on each of the pins in the connector. See
Pin Connector / Computer and Input/Outputs
o
If one of the pins came off, the belt only moves in one direction.
o
If one of the wires comes out, the Molex connector must be repaired.
5.5 Computer
On power up, the computer initializes and automatically starts the BioSans© application. If there
are initialization or software runtime errors, messages display on the monitor or on the Keypad.
For more information on software errors, refer to
Section
or check the Keypad for error messages. See
3.3 Control Box Access - Technician
Ensure that every cable is connected correctly before attempting to diagnose a problem.
