Introduction
The information in this manual covers the installation, configuration and operation of the Surveyor99 Camera
Dome. This system should only be installed by a qualified technician using common hand tools and approved
materials in accordance with national, state and local wiring codes.
The Surveyor99 is a compact, intelligent, high-speed Camera Dome. Surveyor99 is sold in 12 prepackaged
configurations with choices in environment, mounting configuration, camera type, and Lower Dome finish. All
versions use the same firmware for programming and operation. For programming information, refer to the
Surveyor99 Programming Manual XX003.
Surveyor99 complies with European Community EMC Directive 89/336. The product was subjected to the
testing outlined in European Normalization Standard EN 50081-1 (Electromagnetic Compatibility-General
Emissions Standard Part 1: Residential, Commercial and Light Industry), and EN 50082-1 (Electromagnetic
Compatibility-General Immunity Standard Part 1: Residential, Commercial, and Light Industry).
Surveyor99 complies with the fire code of certain local municipalities. The fire code for any given municipality
should be verified for Surveyor99’s compliance at the installation site.

How to Use this Manual
This manual was designed to provide the best overall instructions for the installation and operation of the
Surveyor99 Camera Dome. The graphics and terminology used in this manual have been carefully selected to
enable a clear and distinct understanding of the Surveyor99 and its components. This manual has been
formatted to present distinct methods of installation for experienced and novice installers.
For experienced installers:
Start at the Quick Installation sub-section of the Installation section and choose the appropriate method (In-
Ceiling Mount Model, Indoor Pendant Model or Outdoor Pendant Model) to begin. Follow the references
provided in the text for items such as wiring tables, DIP Switch settings and Lower Dome care. Refer to the
subsequent sections of Installation, Wiring, Configuration and Operation for detailed descriptions of any
method.
For novice installers:
Complete the remainder of this section (Introduction) and proceed to the Detailed Installation sub-section of
the Installation section and choose the appropriate method (In-Ceiling Mount Model, Indoor Pendant Model or
Outdoor Pendant Model) to begin. When complete, proceed to the Wiring, Configuration and Operation
sections to verify your work. In addition, these sections detail information on use of such optional features as
the Alarm Inputs and Relay Output.
