Installation

From Above the Ceiling (access
to the space above)
The ceiling hole is cut and the Surveyor99
is snapped into the hole and screwed up
tight to the surface. The Enclosure’s Top
Cover is removed and the Surveyor99 is
wired and configured from above the
ceiling. The Top Cover is replaced and the
Indoor Lower Dome is then snapped on.
The Surveyor99 rests on the Ceiling Clips
provided. The Ceiling Clip screws can be
adjusted vertically (Z axis) for the best
flush fit with the ceiling. Refer to Figure 16
for installation details.
The Accessory Kit containing the RJ-45 to
RJ-45 8 foot (2.4 m) cable and RJ-45
Termination Box can be used in this
installation for the 4 alarms or relay. Since
there is access above the ceiling and the
supplied cable is limited to 8 feet (2.4 m),
the Termination Box must be mounted
while wiring and configuring the
Surveyor99. Refer to Figure 14 for an
example of using the supplied cable and
Termination Box in this situation. Detailed
installation instructions will follow.
The ceiling material must provide a
surface of suitable strength for the
Surveyor99 weight of 4.5 lb (2.0 kg) on the
area of the two Ceiling Clips. Refer to the
Optional Independent Support
sub-section
for installations requiring additional
support.
1. Cut a 7-3/8-inch (187 mm ) diameter
hole in ceiling at the desired
Surveyor99 location. Feed the necessary Flexible Conduit Pipe or cables down through the hole.
2. Lift the Surveyor99 up to the ceiling and snap it into hole. Tighten the Ceiling Clip Screws for a flush fit.
3. Working above the ceiling, remove the Enclosure Top Cover by loosening the 3 Screws and lifting it off.
4. If cables are used without the use of Flexible Conduit:
a) Remove the Conduit Fitting by loosening the Nut and sliding it out. Install the supplied Strain Relief
Fitting in its place.
b) Route approximately 9 inches (229 mm) of cables through the Strain Relief Fitting. Tighten the 2
Strain Relief Fitting screws to compress the cables. Over-tightening the screws could crush cables.
