Precautions when lifting
- Only qualified persons should be allowed to perform the slinging work and the
operation o f the lifting device.
- Attach the belt or wire rope to the lifting jig , or to specified points on the burden.
The m achine and/or its components m ay be dam aged i f belt or wire rope is attached to
points other than the specified lifting points.
- Cover the com er and/or points o f the m achine (points where belts or wires come in
contact w ith the m achine), w ith m etal sheeting or cloth in order to protect the m achine

and belts or wires and prevent damage.

- M ove the hook to the position directly over the lifting point, and lift the burden from its
center o f the gravity.
- N ever lift the burden obliquely.
- Do not lift the burden w hen there is any excess belt or w ire hanging from the hook.
- Before beginning lifting, alert all the w orkers to move away from the lifting area.
Then start lifting by notifying with hand signals to those lifting the machine.
Do not start lifting unless the hand signals have been confirmed by all.
- Do not reel in the belt or wire rope at high speed. Stop reeling at the position ju st before
the burden leaves the ground, and then verify that the burden is n o t at a slant.
Reel out the belt or wire rope, and correct the burden i f it is at a slant.
- All burdens should always be lifted slowly. I f a burden is lifted too quickly, the lifting
equipm ent (belt, wire rope, shackle, etc.) can be damaged.
- N ever enter or allow any part o f one’s body into the area beneath a raised burden.
- Carefully observe the condition o f the burden, the belts or w ire ropes, and the lifting
equipm ent during lifting.
- Do not move the raised burden over any passageways unless.it is unavoidable.

Precautions for lowering burden

- Do not lower the burden in a passageway.
Keep all passageways clear so workers can pass freely at all tithes.
- Rem ove any obstacles from the landing site in’ advance, so that the burden w ill not land
at a slant or in an otherwise unstable position w hen unloaded.
M ake sure the landing site is flat.
- I f the burden is to be unloaded onto blocks, m ake sure all the blocks are arranged
levelly so that the burden can be unloaded in a stable horizontal position.
- Do not leave any equipment, such as belts or wire ropes or shackles, on the floor
betw een lifting operations.
P ut all equipm ent away on shelves or in cabinets.
