(c) Changing Coolant (Tier 4 Engine)

WARNING
To ensure proper handling of cooling system detergent, study the warning text on the package.
NOTICE
After the coolant is discharged, do not start the engine when there is no water in the radiator. This
could cause the engine to seize up.
Hand tighten the drain cock of the radiator. Tightening with pliers or some other tool could damage it.
Clean the cooling system more often than the inspection interval if necessary.
Do not use caustic soda or other alkaline detergent as it can damage the aluminum.
Avoid spillage and use a suitable container. Used coolant must be disposed of as specified in
national and international law.
Disposal and treatment of the discharged coolant must be conducted in accordance with the
specified procedure.
PROCEDURE
1. Observe all safety warnings.
2. Shut down the machine and implement the lockout and tag out procedure.
3. Remove the radiator cap.
4. Open the coolant drain cock on the radiator to discharge the coolant.
5. Loosen the water drain plug located on the left side of the cylinder block (Item 1), and
discharge the coolant inside the engine.
6. Close the drain cock and the refit the water drain plug (Item 1).

7. From the radiator water inlet, slowly add the coolant up to the filler opening. To avoid air
intrusion, the coolant should be supplied slowly.
8. Firmly close the radiator cap.
