Overdub
The Overdub feature allows the user to layer audio over
a pre-existing recording (sound on sound). When the
Overdub button is pressed, the PSD410 enters REC Pause
Mode (Overdub).
In REC Pause Mode (Overdub), pressing the Record
button (blinking red) or the Play/Pause button (blinking
green) will mix the selected input signal (see
Setting Up
Microphones, Instruments, and Other Sound Sources.
)
with the currently selected track. If you have not adjusted
the loop points for the selected accompaniment track,
then you may layer audio until the accompaniment track
finishes playing or until you stop the recording. When the
recording is stopped early (before the accompaniment
track finishes playing), the length of the newly recorded
file will equal the elapsed time at the moment the
recording was stopped.
By adjusting loop points before using the Overdub
feature, you are able to utilize the PSD410’s additional
Overdub modes:
Overdubbing for Composition
(Layering sections of a Track)
In this mode, you will identify a section of audio, then
record additional audio over that section. The end result
is a file identical to the original accompaniment file in
length, but with an added layer of audio within the
section you have outlined.
※
When this mode is selected, playback level
will automatically be reset to maintain
consistent accompaniment level throughout
the recording. See
Playback Balance and
Level
.
※
This mode does not work when MP3 files are
used as accompaniment.
1. Press the TRACK SELECT button to select a track to
record over.
2. If you have already set your Overdub points, proceed
to step 7. If not, press the PLAY/PAUSE button to
listen to the track.
3. Press the LOOP button during playback to view the
LOOP setting menu.
4. Press FUNCTION ADJUST #1 (4A) during playback
to set Overdub point A. This is the point in the track
you wish to begin layering audio.
