To Install Firmware using FTP
As an alternative to modifying the
/.rhosts
file, you can use the
ftp
method,
which is explained below.
Note – You can invoke the command without any parameters, in which case you are
prompted for input, including the choice of whether to use
ftp
or
rshd
.
If you invoke the command with three parameters,
rshd
is used. If you invoke the
command with four parameters,
ftp
is used.
1. From a UNIX system, telnet into the switch and download the firmware with the
firmwareDownload
command.
2. To check the syntax, type:
Note –
With version 2.1 and higher, commands are not case-sensitive.
3. Check the syntax by typing
firmwaredownload
and following the screen
prompts. See

for an FTP example.
