Programming

7.1

Programming via SIMATIC controller

This section is intended only for S7 users.
The reader is integrated in STEP 7 Basic / Professional from TIA Portal version V17 and can be

integrated in TIA Portal V16 via an HSP file. In both cases, you can program and configure the

reader using the "SIMATIC Ident" technology object. Alternatively, you can also program and

configure the reader using the Ident instructions. The Ident profile and the Ident blocks are

integrated in STEP 7 as of version V13.1.
In older TIA Portal versions (< V16), the reader can be integrated via a GSDML file. In this

case, you must use library version V4.0 of the Ident instructions to program and configure the

reader when operating via SIMATIC S7-1200/1500 controller.
You can find a detailed description of the Ident instructions (Ident profile and Ident blocks) in

Function block "FB 45" is not supported
