(as defined in the Anal. Parameters selection at the ISE Parameter Settings window), the
calibration fails with a C flag.
3. After all 3 analytes(Na,K,andCl)pass the range check a tthesame time,the system
moves to the second check of clearance.
The difference between the sample -buffer readings for the second and third ISE high
calibrator aspirations must be
≤1.0 (absolute value) for serum and 2.0 (absolute value) for
urine.
If the clearance check fails, the system will take a fourth aspiration and try this
comparison with the third and fourth aspirations.
If the clearance check fails, the system will continue until a maximum of 8 aspirations are
taken. If the clearance still fails, the calibration stops and an asterisk (*) posts next to the
analytes that failed. Serum and urine use different clearance values, which are defined in
the ISE Parameter Settings window.
Example:
ELASTDSL012 Na Sample -Buffer = 388.5
ELASTDSL013 Na Sample -Buffer = 387.0
Difference = 1.5
Exceeds clearance value of 1.0, another aspiration occurs.
4. Steps 2 and 3 are repeated for the ISE low calibrator.
A maximum of 8 sample aspirations can occur.
5. Twelve seconds after the last ISE low calibrator is aspirated, the system takes one
additional aspiration and uses it to determine the chloride bias.
6. The third check is for the ISE slope.
ISE slopes <38.0 and >65.0 will fail calibration are flagged as shown in the following
table. The slope limits are defined in the ISE Parameter Settings window.
Flag
ISE Slope Range
Result
H
> 65.0
Not reportable
h
63.1--65
Reportable if controls are
acceptable
l
38.0--44.9
Reportable if controls are
acceptable
L
< 38
Not reportable.
7. The fourth check is dilution factor, which must be between 25 and 60 (as defined in the
Anal. Parameters selection at the ISE Parameter Settings window) to pass calibration.
If the dilution factor range is exceeded, a d flag is reported.
8. The fifth check is Th, that evaluates the ISE thermistor. If the thermistor is defective,
the ISE calibration will fail and a T flag is reported.
